Charlene Levesque: Board Member-at-Large
Charlene Levesque retired as PSU's experienced and respected Manager of Campus Event Scheduling this year, and joined our Board. Reading her life story is challenging. Born Chicago pre-WWII, and an eighth-grade country school house, married, a family in 1978 and settled in Eugene raising sheep, publishing the Black Sheep Newsletter.

Her change of life was PSU's Johanna Brenner's Returning Women's Studies class around 1986. Fast forward, resulting in 1994 as a PSU bartender moving onto the position of Campus Events Scheduler. She handled those responsibilities in the most professional manner - and I speak from the Registrar position I held. She comes to serve RAPS, while dealing with personal issues that have brought PSU women to her support. Charlene serves with, to name a few, Walk of Heroines board, MLK Celebration committee, African American Visual Arts Scholarship, and others.

Vic Dahl:
Social/Friendship Committee (Co-chair)
Vic Dahl began service at Portland State on January 2, 1959, and retired on July 1, 1990. In addition to teaching history courses nearly every term, Dahl served in various minor administrative posts in the offices of the President, Dean of Faculty, International Programs, and Graduate Studies, and with his wife Beryl's aid, fulfilled some assignments abroad. Together they travel 3-4 months annually, his preference being the Spanish-speaking world.

Dahl’s proudest bragging achievement at PSU was that after 1964 he was elected to serve on the President's Advisory Council every term for which he was constitutionally eligible. He used to be a gym rat, regularly playing handball and swimming, and was obsessed with auto mechanics and restoration, but aging has limited his activities--a lot! These days much of his time is devoted to reading the New York Times and yard maintenance.
